Course Overview

This chapter is all about the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the purpose for which it was established. It exists within the Department of Transportation. It was also formerly a part of the Federal Highway Administration. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration introduction chapter talks about the various safety regulations, information systems, and commercial motor vehicle technologies that the FMCSA wishes to strengthen by rolling out different rules and updates regularly. It also talks about the various activities, data, and analysis processes, compliance enforcement, safety assistance, and research and technology that the FMCSA has heavily invested in ever since it was conceptualized.
